A flavorful and spicy stewed chickpeas dish, popularly known as Chana Masala, featuring a blend of aromatic spices. Perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups chickpeas cooked
- 1 large onion finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes pureed
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 inch ginger grated
- 1 green chili chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
In a pan with heated oil, add the cumin seeds and watch them splutter
Add the chopped onions and saut until they turn golden brown
Add the chopped green chili, grated ginger, and minced garlic
Saut for two minutes
When the oil separates from the masala, add the pureed tomatoes and cook
Add the salt, garam masala, turmeric, chili, and coriander powders
Blend thoroughly
Add the cooked chickpeas, cover with masala, and simmer for five to seven minutes
If more water is required to get the right consistency, add it
Before serving, garnish with fresh coriander leaves
